Frat boy type-
drinking, partying, failing out of school, and bedding everything
with a double x chromosome
               dumb                            ill-mannered                             alcoholics
misogynist, homophobic rapists

What if I told you that a fraternity was none of those things?
What if I told you that fraternities break out of those stereotypes and become so much more?
We all use stereotypes all the time                It’s true.                               Without knowing it
Fraternities aren’t all about drinking and getting laid and treating women like dirt.
NO

I received an email from a Greek recruiter.
It said that he had got my information from that friend of mine who joined a sorority. He wanted to meet with me. At first I just ignored the email.
To me the “brothers” were just a bunch of immature kids who needed to grow up and get their lives together
But after a few days I thought to myself, what the hell.
What harm could it do?
I remember going into my first meeting with him.
He was the first brother of Delta Sig that I met.
My future brother.
That meeting showed me a new side to Greek life. I met with a computer science major, not a communications major. He rocked a 3.5 GPA, not a .5.
completely different than the “frat boy” that I had expected to meet with.

Times have truly changed and those negative images and ridiculous stereotypes no longer apply

After that meeting, I wanted to know more
I saw this family that they had and I wanted to be a part of it

I was on the fringe of the
                epitome of social
         connections
but I just couldn’t take that
          first step

I’m not going to say that it was easy. Because it wasn’t
Entering a college campus can be confusing and a little intimidating

Fraternities offer the possibility of the communal bond that most
students feel like they’re missing

But I was very selective and wanted a fraternity that matched me as person. Not just any random one.
There had to be a connection
COMMUNITY

 A feeling of purpose

 SERVICE

There was no hazing or abuse,
honestly most of the brotherhood events I attended were for community service
 I wanted to get involved
                            unique

 leadership
experience

     and skills
more than just TITS and BEER

I found that place. Beyond the stereotypes.
The place of community.
                          Where I fit it.
sense of belonging,
of community,
is something that everyone needs
People seek it out, I know I did
these things that went completely against
what I thought a “frat boy” to be

Fraternities-
community, acceptance, belonging, support

BROTHERHOOD
